Birthday Celebrations

Today I bring you three birthday cards. I have found that the older I get, the excitement of a birthday tends to go away! However, I think a nice birthday card is always exciting to get. More so when they are handmade!

Gone Fishing~Boy

In this busy life, it is important to remember to take some time out for yourself and enjoy the things you like to do!

For my brother, that would be fishing, hunting, or hiking with his dog. Wednesday is his birthday. I decided to pick a fishing theme.

KaDoodle Bug Designs 'Gone Fishing Boy' was the perfect file for this step card.

You Brighten My Day

Our state (WA) is in a state of turmoil right now as we have many wildfires. So, no camping and no burning which puts a damper on getting our s'mores on! Since we can't do the things we love, I captured it in a card with a treat box! The treat box will be filled with graham crackers s'mores snacks.

Back to school

We have one more week of summer break before school starts. As a busy mom of two and having a card business, I would be lying if I said I was sad to see school starting!

This year I decided to do a little back to school gift set for my son's new teacher.

I used the 'Back to school Bears' from KaDoodle Bug Designs and SVG Attic's desk on the first card. For the second card, I used KaDoodles 'Back to school Bears' (it is such a great file, I couldn't just make one card). For the sentiment on the apple, I used the 'hello' stamp from Virginia Turtle's Sunny Days Ahead set.

Charmkin Cutie Sneak Peek

Oh boy the new line of Charmkin cuties from KaDoodle Bug Designs will leave the crafty person wanting more, needing more, and crafting more!

Charmkin Files I used today:
Tooth Fairy Peeker

Cauldron Witch

This little tooth fairy is taking a peek to see if she can find the tooth fairy. I remember as a little girl waiting and waiting and waiting for the tooth fairy! This card comes with Magic Tooth Fairy Dust to sprinkle outside the window to show the fairy where to go. Then there is a little box for the tooth and of course a card for the fairy!
The Fairy Dust pocket has a fairy dust wand on it!
And the tooth must be in a box for a great exchange!

Switching it up a bit to Halloween! It is right around the corner! You know how much tooth fairies love candy on the teeth!
This is the Cauldron Witch file.
I felt that in order for this to be a complete project, there must be a treat bag with goodies in it! The sentiment on the goodies back is from Virginia Turtle stamps

Under the Sea

Often I have a general plan or idea in my head on how I want a project to go. However, getting it from my brain to paper can be the difficult part! I am often asked how did you do that. I can't really answer that, it just happens.

For this card, I knew that I wanted a card that was not flat, could contain a gift, and was fun to play with. So to the Silhouette store I went. After choosing the base of the card, I started with a blank sheet of white cardstock.

After picking a mermaid theme, it came to me that I wanted the base of my card to look like fish scales. So I made up a template on my Cameo and cut it out.
I chose my colors of ink
And started inking. I started with the lightest color and continued to the darkest.
With this particular project, the inking certainly does not have to be perfect! By not being perfect, it added more depth and character to the scales!

Next I started building the elements to my card. I used KaDoodle Bug Designs Mermaid Lagoon for this little gal!
One of the things I like to do with the eyeballs of my projects is use alcohol markers to make them more interesting than just using a flat colored piece of cardstock.

I decided to try out two different colors. The first set has a light blue base and the second pair has a lighter tan as the base. I generally start with the lighter to the darker with alcohol markers, but it is users choice!
I liked the second pair better so I went with them!
Next I used these sequins from Virginia Turtle to make the mermaids legs/tail more shimmery and eye catching. Note I have the base sheet of paper already folded for easy cleanup!
And she is starting to form. I loved the result of using the sequins on her tail!

I continued to add details until I was happy with the end result. I hope you enjoy!

This card comes with it's own box! So of course the box had to match the base!

The sequins that I used for the rocks to imitate sand is from Virginia Turtle's Lobster LoMein set. The 'Under the Sea' sentiment is also from Virginia Turtle! The drawer pulls out to reveal goodies or a special message.
I left an area under the mermaid for a personalized written message.
The top lies down flat so it can all fit back into the box!
